** Cystic Fibrosis is the most common fatal genetic disease, affecting about 30,000 children and young adults in this country. It affects the lungs and digestive system and causes the body to produce abnormally thick sticky mucus. The mucus leads to life threatening lung infections that, in time, result in lung transplant or death. They endure a few hours a day of physical therapy, inhalers, breathing treatments, and takes enzymes before each meal and snack. The life expectancy has gone up dramatically over the years and the median age of survival is close to 37 years. We are getting closer now than ever to finding a cure.
